“是的,”小王子说,“但是我能够在任那边所审判我本身,我没有需求留在这个星球上。”
“你能够审判本身,”国王答复说,“这但是世上最难的事情。审判本身比审判别人要难很多啊!如果你能精确地审判本身,你就是一个真正聪明的人。”
国王对他说:“在一个君主面前打哈欠是违背礼节的。我制止你打哈欠。”
“啊!来了一个子民。”国王瞥见小王子时,欣喜地喊了起来。
“我实在忍不住,”小王子惭愧地说,“我长途跋涉来到这里,还没有睡觉呢。”
他对国王说:“我在这儿已经没有甚么事情可做了,我应当持续赶路了。”
“嗯!嗯!”国王答复,“那么我……号令你偶然候能够打哈欠,偶然候……”

For what the king fundamentally insisted upon was that his authority should be respected. He tolerated no disobedience. He was an absolute monarch. But, because he was a very good man, he made his orders reasonable.
